April 20 to April 26, 1913


Sunday, April 20
Dandy  - Fine
Sunday School with G.  Over to Dinner, good too.  Then out canoeing with G.  Had fine time.  Back abt. 8 P.M.  Home at 10 P.M.  Turn in 10:30.

Monday, April 21 
Windy   Fair
School   -  Worked on Electrical Exp 9 + 10 all afternoon.  Home 6 P.M.  Study Calc.  Turn in 10 P.M.

Tuesday, April 22
Fair
School  -  Exp. Valve setting.  Home 5:30 P.M.  Gladys sick with Mumps.  [I wonder if 'Gladys'  is his often mentioned 'G.']   "Lu" called up too.  Study eve.  Till  9P.M.

Wednesday, April 23
Fair
School  -  Home 5 P.M.  Nothing doing  Turn in 8 P.M.

Thursday, April 24
Fair
School  -  
Down Town Morning Lectures at School.  Home 5:30 P.M.  Over to see G. She's pretty sick.  Study eve.  Turn in 10 P.M.

Friday, April 25
Fair
School  -  Worked on gas engine turning up flywheel.  Home 5:30 P.M.  Went to see G.  little better.  Study till 10 P.M.

Saturday, April 26
Fair
School  -  Home afternoon.  Study E.E.  Out to County Fair Eve[ning].    [The King County Fair is the oldest fair west of the Mississippi River. It is held in Enumclaw, WA.  Clarence probably took the train from Seattle to Enumclaw, a trip of about 40 miles.]   Had hot time. Minnie there had couple of dances also with Miss Baucher. [Popular dances in 1913 USA: Chinese Ta Toa, Newman Tango, Pavlova Gavotte, Philadelphia Drag, Rumba, Ballin' the Jack, Innovation Waltz.]     Home 12 P.M.  G. Better.

March 23 to 29, 1913


Sunday, March 23
Easter       Fair
Sunday School with G, also Church.  Home 1P.M. out again at 3 P.M. to Mrs Gerould's took walk around Denny Blaine Park. [Today's address for Denny Blaine Park is 200 Lake Washington Boulevard E, Seattle. You can still see the old stone wall that would have been the sea wall when Clarence and his friend walked there. Later, when the Lake Washington Ship Canal was finished, it lowered the lake by about 9 feet. This is one of many small parcels of land donated to the city by Charles L. Denny and Elbert F. Blaine.] 
Met Wells had short auto ride.  Home 6 P.M. had tea.  Out to Movies, home 11 P.M.  Some day, what?

Monday, March 24
School          Windy Fair
Got raise in Mech 41 to 83.5.  Home 1 P.M.  Slept all afternoon.  Study eve.  Talked with R.Y.  Turn in 11 P.M.

Tuesday, March 25
School         Fine
Home 4 P.M. worked on Exp. Notes.  Study Eve till 9:30.  G over few min. got copies to type.  

Wednesday, March 26
School          Fair
Home 5 P.M.
Not much doing.  Study eve a little.  Turn in early.  G. over abt. 9 P.M.  Finished Exp and (let)? her take them.  
Closed Shop 10:20 P.M.

Thursday, March 27                 
            Rain
School  -  Mechanics worked hard. home 5:45 P.M.   G. over while working on Notes for me.  Called Minnie & Elsie up.  Study till 9:30  Turn in early.
The telephone may have looked something like this.  In January,1913 Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. emerged from the combining of previous smaller independent companies. 

Friday, March 28
School              Rain
Worked on Gas Engine.  Home 6 P.M.  Saw G. few min.   Took Minnie to Junior Informal.  Had good time.  Home 1P.M.  Called Elsie up.  She did not go.   Rather tired.

Saturday, March 29
School            Fair
Home 1 P.M. Slept all afternoon.  Out to Hyland Hall Informal.  Had good time.  Home 12:45.  Not as tired as last night. Crockett called up.
